Slow to enter hibernation

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 5:41 pm

I've searched and can only turn up problems relating to resuming from hibernate, not entering it. I have not added any new software or made any system changes to my T23. After hitting the power button, it takes about 5 seconds before it reacts. It used to take about 1 second...Any ideas, some sort of file that holds the key to this?

Just a guess, but maybe your hard drive is/was in a power down condition? If your power settings have changed recently (and sometimes Windows does that for you), check the Power Option Properties window and re-apply your normal settings.

The next time, prior to entering hibernation, launch a program to get the hard drive up and spinning, then press the power button to hibernate. See if that does the trick. If it doesn't, ask somebody else who has better ideas :) .

P.S. Get back to work on those papers!

I started to whack myself in the forehead while saying "duh!" that I didn't think of the HD spin down...But I had it active and hibernate still took 5 seconds to acknowledge the button being pushed.

I'll just wait for one of those "experts" out there.

What papers? (Goes to 'drop class' button and contemplates clicking)

Ray,

Like people usually do, I stated that there were no changes to my system since the slow-down occured...I lied.

I forgot I installed a bluetooth usb dongle, and the driver was the problem.

I wouldn't call that a lie... more like selective recall :) .

Maybe that should be a chapter in the TPFD book that some of us are working on? Hmm... "Chapter 5: Are you SURE you haven't changed something recently?".
