Adding HD to early Tnkpd 600

Adding HD to early Tnkpd 600

#1 Post by The Olde Man » Mon Nov 06, 2006 9:16 am

I have a 2645-45U. I got it 'refurbished' 6 years ago, it appeared to be brand-new actually.

I have never had it on the Net and don't intend to unless forced.

I am contemplating upgrading to a 40 gig HD, current is 5.2, evenly partitioned, I think. At least there are two 'drives'.

OS is Windows 98.

I want to partition the new drive when it is installed. I have the Recovery CD-Rom Boot Diskette and the Product Recovery CD-ROM

Is there anything I need to know before I get into this?

You can also clone the hardrive if you are happy with the way the programs are working now.

My recommendation would be acronis.

You can get the trial version and it will give you a full working clone of your hd.

But you will need a enclosure or any kind of usb adapter for the new drive.

Not being computer literate, which Acronis? There seem to be several.

I assume I would clone after I partition?

Uhh...I clone and end up with two partitions, each of about 2 gigs and one partition of maybe 36 gigs?

That does not sound good to me.

You can combine the partitions by using something like this:

http://partitionlogic.org.uk/
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP
