2611 9.6volt battery question

#1 Post by Weanuts » Mon Nov 06, 2006 10:31 am

I have two batteries 9.6volt 3.5 hour rated. First battery fully charged reads 10.6v and works for about 2 hours in old 2611-451, second battery reads 10.6volts and when installed doesn't hookup but for a split second. Both batteries when inserted into TP activate power led for for a slightlyy longer time (1/2 sec). I have had a 12 watt llight bulb on the questionable battery for 12 hours now is still going strong, and voltage reads 8.9 volts. So my question is: Is the second battery toast or can I re???? it?

You may know that there is a lot more to these batteries than, well, "batteries." There's a considerable amount of "smart" circuitry in there.

There might be something wrong in the internal electronics in the battery, but the first thing I'd do is closely examine the contacts--both in the laptop and in the battery.

Can you tell me if the Ni-MH has a counter on or in the battery system board? If it does, will it still allow me to charge battery till led switches from charging to charged?

thanks for your earlier reply.
