Automating System Updates for Admins ; Does not work

#1 Post by StevenL » Tue Nov 07, 2006 12:10 am

the IBM/Lenovo Software Installer and System Update 2 are both funtional but interactive programs for the single user to update a thinkpad.

The System packager/updater for Admins has some functionality but is a far cry from full WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) for full automation for System admins.

I can not get the Lenovo packager/updater things to work. please help. The most I can do is get the system to download packages based on model type/os and language. How the heck to do you deploy the packages? The adm GPO templates are a shell with no content.

It's like pre-alpha stuff that needs alot of help.
Please help me in getting it to work.

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

Have you tried the IBM Software Delievery Assistant as well?

I was looking at the Admin version of SU2 for some tasks I had to do on a variety of Thinkpads and I *think* I got a fair grasp of how it works enough so that I can try it out sometime this week. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
