Go to Power Manager or Battery Maximizer and look under battery information. You can also go to ThinkPad Configuration, System Information > Details and look for battery information.

Full Charge Capacity vs. Design Capacity along with Cycles will give you the information you need.

You can download the Lenovo software and drivers, including either the battery maximiser or power manager here (depending on your model):
Thinkpad Software and Device Drivers

Or you can download the Software Installer program and use that to help you find and install the Lenovo software/drivers.

Once you have the ThinkPad software:

Access IBM > ThinkPad Configuration ... and then click the battery button on the toolbar.

Actually, it depends on what kind of system you have, as to whether or not you can check the cycles on the battery. A/T/X/R/G systems have this capability, but older systems like the 600/5xx/3xx, etc. systems do not have the capability to provide that kind of information.

What kind of system do you have?

On my 600 as well as the T21 I used to own, I used MobileMeter which had a feature that could tell me how much of the original design capacity was left and how much my battery had degraded.
ThinkPad T60: 2GHZ CD T2500, 3gb RAM, 14.1" XGA, 60gb 7k100, Win 7 Ult
