Haven't posted on the forums for a while, posted a while back about my T42 experiencing a critical error resulting in having to get IBM UK to send out some recovery disks. All is fine now, recieved the disks from them within 10 days and I finally have everything restored to what it was before.
Prior to resetting the T42 back to factory settings, I had bought a new LCD cover, as the old one was pretty scratched (previous owner
). I feel that now would be a good time to install it, as I need to get inside the thinkpad and blow out a bit of dust anyway. I'd like to do everything I need to do inside the T42 in as few disassemblies as possible to minimise the risk of me fudging things up, so I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following parts:- T42 LED indicator strips (IBM lists these on the UK maintainance parts website, but pasting the code into the basket results in the "item not being found", do IBM still send these out? The LCD cover did not come with any strips.
- Replacement battery ejection sliders (the two buttons you slide on the bottom of the thinkpad to release the battery). The previous owner of this T42 managed to lose on of the sliders (the actual lock beneath it is still there, and works) and this isn't exactly ideal, so i would like to install a new slider. Does anyone know what this would come under in the IBM parts store?
