I like using the Windows built-in setup to manage wireless connections (I'm used to it, so I prefer it). Does this have any negative consequences compared to using the ThinkVantage thing(perhaps in terms of energy savings or signal strength?)
Thanks,
Richard

IMHO, the main advantages of using Access Connections over Windows wireless management are:
- Much better profile management (for example, you can specify which profiles can be detected automatically or not, and you can inspect fine details of each profile)
- Ability to automatically apply some security settings depending on the profile (for example, AC can automatically turn on or off File and Printer sharing depending on whether or not you are connecting to a profile for a trusted network)
- Ability to easily specify a "blessed" profile to use for Windows log-on; very useful if you need to authenticate to a domain your "home" connection.
The main disadvantages of AC are:
- Several additional processes that add to the system load.
- When it gets confused (rarely in my experience), it gets really confused, requiring a reboot before you can connect again.
