I have heard of Win XP Pro 64 working on a Compaq laptop so you will get the basic Windows functionality and since there is a 32 bit mode within 64 bit you will get most of the ThinkVantage working as well.

I am currently looking for the Verizon EVDO built-in WWAN 64-bit driver, but I think the remainder should basically work.

I wonder if he meant it is not supported by IBM/Lenovo?

If you read at the bottom you will see the report of a person with a Core 2 Duo Compaq running Win XP Pro 64.

When these people tell you it will not work, get it in writing. Then I can send it on to people that I know that will correct him/her. If you ask for it in writing, they should be careful to check before committing themselves.
