NOD32 questions - how to disable real-time?

#1 Post by hoya » Fri Nov 10, 2006 3:33 pm

I've been using NOD32 for the past week on my new Core 2 Duo T60 and I had a few questions:

1) is quitting the control center sufficient in terms of disabling AV when installing new apps? I like having the ability to disable AV with one click but NOD32 doesn't seem to have that feature; there are lots of components (AMON, EMON, DMON, etc.) which would need to be stopped individually, in addition to the control center itself.

2) is there anyother AV app which has a minimal hit on performance? I've heard Symantec Corporate AV is better than the consumer offering (and supposedly the new 2007 consumer version is a huge improvement over the 2006 consumer version), but that would be my last choice. I'm leaning toward Kaspersky but the jury is still out. I liked eTrust v. 7 but it does poorly in detection, and OneCare just didn't meet my needs.
