Especially in the last few weeks, it seems. Most of us are having a hard time getting people to buy our fanTAStic Thinkpads on this forum! Is it because everyone is waiting for the Black Friday sales?

Well, you got a point.

But I do not think there is any good stuff from BF. Not sure what everybody else thinks. Crappy emachine, toshiba, compaq. I would not use them even if they are free. I may get one and use them as parts though--like the DVD drive, memory, Hard dive, LCD, etc. The motherboard will be junked the minute I got it.

Making it worse, I think most Black Friday laptop deals require mail-in-rebates, which are not only major hassles but also not always honored.

I think $600 is rather high for a 2-3 years old machine, especially with only XGA screen. I recently sold 2 Mint T42 w/SXGA screen. One for $650 shipped and the other 1 for $640 shipped. Both were still under warranty as well.
