Blue Screen of Death...the screensaver!

#1 Post by KristianJ » Sat Nov 11, 2006 7:52 pm

For use to scare your work colleagues, friends, etc.

 Don't know whether it's been posted about, but it does look pretty authentic and I'd be fooled.

That's a cool screensaver, believe me.

Although, if you look really closely at the BSOD error messages, you would come to the conclusion that they aren't actually real (and there are even some obvious tech jokes in there too! :)); but, almost all of the time, most users don't look that closely and go by the shape of the text, blue screen, big hex number, and the word "restart." :D

I use it on all my computers. It is funny watching people's reactions to it too.

lol...yes they do. Although I like that it sort of picks a random file from the user's system as the culprit, so that adds to the confusion. :D

Yeah, that is clever; they even go through the Windows XP splash screen to simulate a reboot and use the actual name and specs of the computer. :)

So now the propeller-beanie wearing crowd at MSFT has spent countless hours perfecting something that can be launched at will and which will put fear into the hearts of unsuspecting users and cause them to consider upgrading their hardware....

Vista.

I guess it's about time I start looking into Linux...

Oh, you thought this was about the BSOD screensaver?

Actually, I think that they assimilated that when they got Mark and the crew from SysInternals as they had that screensaver before. :)

And you think that Linux doesn't have its, more so unfair, share of proper-beanie heads?!

Haha, I cant believe that this is an official Microsoft Screensaver.
As for Linux, I have seen more Kernel Panics than BSOD's, but almost every single kernel panic i've seen was a nice little case of PEBKAC.

I installed the wallpaper on my uncle\'s 701C and make it appear when he returned from the restroom. Guess what???

He started to panic and keep demanding from me what i have done to his 701C. I smiled at him and said: time to buy new thinkpad. Your 701C simply gave up on you, uncle... :D

I think he will be buying a new laptop sooner or later and i am trying to convince him that i can repair his 701C. hehehe...

Thanks for the wallpaper. But if you read the words carefully, there is 1 sentence on the top page with the word: bogus_bluescreen... (everytime change after the fake restart)!!!

:-)

Sweet! My brother doesn't know it yet, but he's getting a new screensaver if I'm successful in reviving his 600E.

Bwahahahahaha!!
