Cheap plane ticket help please?

#1 Post by skitty4gzus » Sat Nov 11, 2006 10:11 pm

As you can see I live in MI and Im in a lil dilemna. I would like to go back to my old home in cincinnati, but the state of MI doesn't think I should drive there. Anyways, I want to fly round trip and I cant find any tickets anywhere less than about 280 bucks. That is just too much for me right now. Can anybody help me with any tips or anything. Im up for just about anything right now. I need to leave on the 22nd and come back home on the 27th if that helps. Thanks and OH YEA I GOT A FEATHER!!!!!! That is AWESOME!

no dice. they dont wanna budge on the price. i will have to try again a lil close to the date, maybe they will be a lil more desperate to fill all those seats on their planes?

Using all the travel tricks I know of, I can't do much better on airfare. Actually $280 is not that bad for a RT ticket purchased less than 3-weeks in advance. One must purchase tickets at least 3-weeks in advance to get the best fares.

Alternatively there is always the "Big Dog" Greyhound. Not sure I really recommend it, but it is an option.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot that driving was out.

You've left this a bit late for Thanksgiving travel and your travel points don't give a great deal of flight choices, more's the pity.

I presume you'd be flying out of Detroit? Would you consider flying in a non-commercial (small) aircraft if you could leave from Midland (Barstow)? Is your schedule scriven in granite (fixed)?

It's a shame that you're precluded from driving as Cincinatti is only about a 5 hour shot down I75 out of Midland. Can't find a driver?

Due to the holiday season, I guess you are pretty much out of luck.

I agree, driving should be that bad (only 5 hours or so). Maybe get a ride from Fedex? :o

Have you tried searching Orbitz, with open availability?

yes i know the route very well as i have driven back and forth to here about 50 times. And no its not a straight shot down 75, that is definitely the long way!!!! I have some folks that are willing to pick me up at the MI/OH border but getting people to take me that far is not seeming to work out. I have been looking for tickets quite awhile in advance and the price is just not budging. So getting them in advance does not ALWAYS mean getting them cheaper. Yea id fly out of barstow and i could care less if its commercial or not as long as its cheaper! I would rather fly out of MBS in Saginaw or either in flint, but Detroit is my last resort as its 2 hours east of me by driving. I have never been on a train in my life but who knows maybe i will find the right combination there that will get me to my house BEFORE thanksgiving dinner starts. I just didnt know if anybody knew any tricks or hidden information about cheap plane tickets. Oh boy if only i could just learn how to drive with some common sense! I just get this thing sometimes where it seems like everybody wants to race with me and next thing you know WOO OOO WOO OOO and its a ticket. You know the more points you have on your license the less likely you are to get a break from the police!!! Just a word of wisdom!
