How can I get full performance from the CPU?

#1 Post by douggg » Tue Nov 14, 2006 2:29 pm

I have a T43 - 2.0GHz machine running Windows XP-SP2. I'm running VMs and other apps but can't seem to get 2.0Ghz performance, best I can get is 1.5 or so. (This is while plugged to a power outlet.)

I've set the performance setting in Control panel to Max Performance. Still can't get above 1.5.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you tried installing NHC?

Also, check the BIOS to set the CPU clock speed to Max PErformance

All that you have to make sure of is that the CPU is not being throttled back by a permanent power-saving scheme (i.e. it is pegged at some frequency manually in the scheme). If you want to easily save power when it can, yet perform fully during heavy loads, then set the power scheme for the CPU to "Adaptive" in the Power Manager. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
