What are these screws that came with my T60?
My T60 came with two little hex head screws that say on the bag they're in P/N 42W2143. Any idea what these are for?

There is an empty screw hole on the bottom, in which you can insert one of those screws to prevent removal of the DVD/CD drive. Can be handy in case you have to leave the machine unattended with a security cable in the slot on the side. The 2nd one is I think just a spare.

Did you also get a phone cord? That one made me go WTF. I like how there are parts included that aren't mentioned in the parts checklist.corymcnutt wrote:I'm glad you asked that question...I was wondering what they were for!marlinspike wrote:My T60 came with two little hex head screws that say on the bag they're in P/N 42W2143. Did you get your copy of Lotus (assuming yours was supposed to come with it)? I had to call my sales rep for mine. Not sure why I cared to do so, because Lotus is pretty worthless, but I thought I would mention it.

Thank you for the interesting answer - what the 2 screws are for and the hole at the bottom of the casing. Firms up my belief that ThinkPad does everything for a reason.
I also like to express my thanks for everyone who had contributed to this forum. I find thinkpads.com the most useful of all the sites I visited before deciding on a T60. The T60 is somewhat like a dream machine for me, finally acquired one on 16 Feb 2007. Very happy with thus far and my learning never ceases as I come to this great forum each day. Thank You ALL.
