trackpad & keyboard problem

hi,

my keyboard and my trackpad is jumping from one spot to another when i'm typing something... it's really annoying because when i'mtyping something important for my office or study it leads to missspellings... do i have to install a newer software or is there an hardware issue? so please help:)
T60 Large (14" 1400x1050,2gb,80gb,9cell bat, and advanced ultrabay battery)-->going to have a big x60 :D, Apple Powerbook G4, DesktopPC, Networkslave (dell optiplex as printserver) ->next upgrade: samsung mh80 120gb drive

Are you by any chance accidentily hitting the trackpoint when you type?

You can desensitize it in ThinkPad configuration in Control Panel.

actually no... i just turned off the click on touch of the touchpad and now its working a bit better... but normally i don't touch or come close to the touchpad when i'm typing my papers... really weird :?

I had the same problem-- so I just disabled the touch pad completely.

Notice, I said trackpoint, not touchpad. However, since turning off click on touch of the touchpad seems to have helped things, you might also want to raise the sensitivity of the palm check feature of the touchpad. Sometimes people hit the touchpad with their palmes without realizing it.
