T23 Pre-Loaded Software & DVD Express

#1 Post by Bucksnort101 » Wed Nov 15, 2006 4:16 pm

I have a T23 Thinkpad with a 23x CD Rom drive that I have reloaded Windows 2000 on with the original recovery cd's. After finishing the load I came across a 8X DVD/24X CD combo drive that I plugged in.
Problem is the Windows did not load the IBM DVD Express software with the original drive in place. Is there a way to load DVD Express easily or will I have to re-load the OS to get the pre-installed software on the system?

I had the same problem. you cannot get dvd express from ibm, only the update, get yourself over to the compaq site & search for mediamatics download , it will be a file called sp19159, install this & you will get a compaq branded player, run the ibm update, which is a full install dependant on a previous version & you will get an ibm branded player

I think you need the "Software Selection CD".

Your Windows 2000 CD is actually the "Product Recovery CD" only.

The suggestion with the Dell install sounds interesting...

The software that you want will only be installed if the device is present when the software is being loaded. The software checks to see what is there and will copy only what is needed.
