Is it difficult to replace the hard drive

I have an A20p and the hard drive sounds like it's going on the blink. I s it a difficult procedure to replace it myself? Are there any online instructions on how to do it? I searched but didin't find any.

Go to the IBM PC Support site for your particualr model number. Then look for the hardware maintenance manual (pdf) for your machine. That will tell you how to remove the hard drive. For newer IBM Commercial laptops (and I think yours might fit), the hard drive is on the side or in a bay on the bottom. If on the side, turn off the PC, undo the screw and gently pull the hard drive out. ... JDHurst

The A20 harddrive is EXTREMELY easy to replace. There is nothing to it, just unscrew the one screw holding it in. Slide it out, and then just by seeing it, you will understand how easy it is to replace. Even someone who is non-technical wont have any problems.

One other question, can I use a 7200rpm HD in my A20p? Would there be any heat or Bios issues or can I just slip it in with no problem.

Yes, a 7200RPM HD is a straight swap on your A20p.

But you should always have the most up to date BIOS installed in your Thinkpad regardless of whether or not the HD works.
