yes it will work. fan will be running almost all of the time, though. look at thermal design power. sspec says 35 watts constant, compared to others that switch betwenn 20 and 30.

I was also wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my 1.8 ghz 2366 82U to a 2.4 ghz.

of course. all t30s use the mobile p4-m range of processors. you can switch them freely. as to desktop processors, i think i read someone put a celeron in his, but i'm not sure about it. also, i am not sure whether that was a mobile celeron or even if such a processor exists.

The thing thath will cause trouble will be the heat.
We will nee to find a low watt prossesor.

Some day i will have mine upgraded and will let you know how it goes :)

I wounder if ther is any way to upgrade the cooling system on a T30.

First upgrade will be my 7200 rpm hardrive though.

hello

just fixed t30 then popped in a 2.2g to replace the 1.8 cpu there is more heat but not that bad the performance gain in bench is inline with the cpu upgrade but the memory performance is much higher.

iwonder if there are any other types of cpu that will fit and work?

if you're interested: i am going to put up a SL6WZ cpu on ebay this coming weekend. it is the fastest cpu you can use in the T30. will notify you and send a link as soon as it's up. i'll ship insured at only the actual costs of shipping to anywhere in the world. (starting to sell my t30 part by part because the ram slots failed and it would cost too much to have them fixed...)

You might still want to try and sell it with the CPU stripped down...even being limited to 1GB ram is not too bad. I might have people that would be interested....if the price is right.

Yeah. But with mine, BOTH friggin slots are broken. I haven't decided yet whether to just let it be and sell ALL parts or start working on it trying to find a fix. After all, there seems to be an "engineering change" available. Any ideas on what that might be?

as ask the 2.2ghz ifitted to replace the 1.8 using standard fan and artic silver 5 was sl6vb it cost £27.00 plus p&p £3.99.

i did some simple benchmarks sisoft 07 ( ithink) every thing was in line in proportion to jump of cpu size ,but the memory bandwidth reads a little greater so it maybe in the architecture of that chip.
i played quake 3 the fan ran about 60% of the time ( tried q4 hopeless) q3 was great my h/d is 5400 i would like to try something much bigger these are northwoods i believe so if there is anything bigger than 2.6ghz i will try it ,it also runs my usb dvt stick ( digital freeview ) usb 1.0 better than the t23 i have usb laptop sat nav on the t23 but i will try that on the t30 to see if it runs a little quicker all in the cpu upgrade gives it a good feel.
