Wonderful Girl :)

#1 Post by gator » Fri Nov 17, 2006 1:57 pm

In the tune of 'Wonderful tonight'

I recently met this very nice girl;
seldom seen around, like a black pearl.
Her skin is dark and she is quite sleek;
I've seen folks gawk and covertly peek.
They all wonder why is she with this bum;
I tell them all, her name is Eye Bee M!

Every geek in town wants her grand,
but only I get to hold her hand;
Not a day passes by when I don't feel,
'Ah! What a wonderful girl!'

** a Clapton-esque guitar lick here **

If Pads and Pods wore skirts and heels,
And told you how they feel,
There would be no bearded bums
Struggling to stay on an even keel...

** iinsert heart melting guitar riff here **

gator,

I actually like the song. Very good effort. Thinking of a Thinkpad as a beautiful woman is not that strange a notion. People do it everyday with their cars, why not a Thinkpad?

@NS, I am sure the song hasn't been recorded *YET*. It is just the lyrics, and some notation that hints at the song structure (guitar riffs here, and so forth.)

Thanks, Thinkpaddict :)

Bill, is this post out of place on this forum? I was listening to clapton croon 'wonderful tonight' on my T60 when I inspiration stuck me, rolled me off my chair (and gave me a cup of gatorade:D) and made me write it. Darn you, inspiration!

This is the "off-topic" section so you're fine. As long as the content doesn't get obscene by the standards of the people running this forum, it's all good.

depends on your level of INsanity. if you love a thinkpad like a woman you should probably think about treating yourself to some professional help for your birthday. i think my t42p is great but i wont carry on a constructive conversation with it, but if you have some program that lets the thinkpad talk about how much battery it has left or cpu usage you could construe that as conversation. just be careful with electronics cuz they will BURN you!

Try this then:

To the tune of "Layla",

What'd you do when your Dell is fryin'
And your backup is 6 months gone by.
You've been running and calculatin' far too long
You know it's just your time to die.

Lap-top, you've got me on my knees,
Lap-top, I'm begging, please stay with me.
Lap-top, I think I'm gettin' me a nice Thinkpad.

Tried to give you resuscitation,
When your hard drive came crashing down.
Like I noob, I put my trust in you,
And then you stop turning 'round and 'round.

Lap-top, you've got me on my knees,
Lap-top, I'm begging, please stay with me.
Lap-top, I think I'm gettin' me a nice Thinkpad.

Sorry, but that's all I can come up with in a few minutes.

Ahem... *cough cough*... :D

I don't think that talking to your computer is considered mad or insane if you are doing this at home behind closed doors. I do this everyday... :lol:

Sorry... I am going to go senile soon because i started to get so serious with this forum that i feel that my life depend on it. :oops: I am taking a holiday away from all my online games sites and forums... and hope to recover from that senile behaviour.

I don't just do it at home, I also do it outside home (and I also talk to them by using my head, not outloud).

Had some free time to make a correction to what I already posted (the chorus) and added the third verse and the last chorus, so here's the final version:

To the tune of "Layla"
(original song by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon)

What'd you do when your Dell is fryin'
And your backup is 6 months gone by.
You've been running and calculatin' far too long
You know it's just your time to die.

Lap-top, you've got me on my knees,
Lap-top, I'm begging, please stay with me.
Lap-top, I think I'll get me a nice Thinkpad.

Tried to give you resuscitation,
When your hard drive came crashing down.
Like I noob, I put my trust in you,
And then you stop turning 'round and 'round.

Lap-top, you've got me on my knees,
Lap-top, I'm begging, please stay with me.
Lap-top, I think I'll get me a nice Thinkpad.

Let's call Dell for an explanation
Before I put this on the plane
Please don't say my backup's the same way
And tell me all my data's down the drain

Lap-top, you've got me on my knees,
Lap-top, I'm begging, please stay with me.
Lap-top, I think I'll get me a nice Thinkpad

Lap-top, now I got my own I-B-M,
Lap-top, I'm never going with Dell again.
Lap-top, I think I love my new Thinkpad.
