Plain vannilla loads of XP Pro on an X60 is the wrong way to go. You should use the factory preload. XP Is now patched so much by Microsoft and vendors, getting it perfect is a pain. I'm not talking about stuff from SP2 and Windowsupdate.

Separate from your atheros issue, which I hope was the one that came with the T60, be sure to go to this site:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62928

MAKE SURE you download and extract the XP update modules (second to last item)

Then run the Software Installer while connected to the internet, off the same driver matrix.

Sounds like you might not have loaded the hotkey utility.

thanks for the response.
that osfix was selectively installed. the crap like firewire stuff that i do not have were omitted.

patches and stuff are suppose tobe normal. however vendor specific patch are not and where do i obtain them from ibm?

there is one more device that is left unknown, and from device manager it looks like it's something from the acpi bus. the question is that i installed everything there is, including the orginal hidden from os BT and modem and they all work fine.

yes poower management driver for fn f3 and power manager in general are installed. i spec that maybe when i upgrade the ram i loosen something but then again if that is the case it will not regiested as a device in device manager and access connection won't be able to get a mac address and the green led won't be on
