Targus Defcon CL + T42 problems

#1 Post by JHelgie » Wed Sep 01, 2004 3:04 am

When I put the lock in, it never "locks", it always acts as though the button is still being pressed, I can pull it out by jostling it around, and can't turn the dials. The lock works perfectly in my sisters HP, which tells me that there isn't "enough room" in the slot on mine for it to open up. I don't think that getting another lock would fix the problem. Is there anything I can do, short of sending it to IBM, to make it work?

Did you put the grey plastic spacers on so it wouldn't rattle around? If it's too tight in the hole, you'll get the problems you describe. Are the prongs bent at all? look in the kensington lock hole on your computer and see if there's any metal inside interfering with the lock.

Yes, there's a big piece of metal that's preventing the lock from going in far enough.

I have the exactly same problem. There's metal in the way. Did you resolve the problem?
