T42 fingerprint reader stopped working

I have T42 laptop for couple of months, worked fine but 2 days ago fingerprint reader stopped working, I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall software, tried to use latest fingerprint reader software downloaded from IBM website but nothing. With the latest software the "welcome screen" that asks to swipe the finger showed me message "connect fingerprint reater" or something like that.

Can someone help? Or someone had similar problem and can say what to to? Is the problem with some software or the reader is broken. Thank you for your help.
