LA Clippers/LA Lakers- Staples Center

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Sun Nov 19, 2006 12:54 am

For a while I've known that the Lakers play at the Staples Center. As I watch the Sixers lead dwindle against the Clippers tonight, I'm perplexed at the fact that the Clippers too are playing at the Staples Center. Two NBA teams playing at the same venue? What gives??

2 pro teams in the same city. The only world class arena in the city. they hold quite a few venues there. L A sparks wnba team. L A kings hockey and some other nonsense. either way if it came down to it and 1 NBA team took that building it would be the lakers, and there is no way LA would build another arena for the clippers. they would have to move to another city, but not sacramento

Good point. I never thought of it that way...I guess my mind is burried on the east coast.

Maybe if the 49ers can relocate, the Clippers can too. Up until last year (as I recall), the Clippers were one of those teams with a losing record for 10 years prior. I couldn't imagine being a Lakers fan, let alone a Clippers fan.

2 minutes left in the game in OT...

whats wrong with being a lakers fan? they put together a decent team every year. they are putting the pieces together and are competitive out west. they still lack a big man in the middle. they have not been the same or close to the same since shaq left. but any player that can throw down 81 points in a game is definitely somebody i can root for as long as they dont play for the pistons or the spurs.

Haha, but you exhibit the same bias towards the two aforementioned teams (I feel ya on the Pistons thing, even though that's over- The Spurs, not so much, as I don't find them to be cocky or overly boisterous like other dominant teams)...I've never doubted the Lakers ability, especially in 2001 versus the Sixers, but that's not what I base my opinion of potentially being a fan on. I meant more dealing with distance and lack of emotion on one's part.

edit: As to Kobe Bryant- he hails from around me, and since his departure from the area, has been viewed as a bit of a cop-out. His level of expertise is intriguing, but Philly fans tend to be pretty unforgiving.

he's an amazing basketball player. he doesn't make as many circus shots as some other all star players, but he gets it done and scores in bunches. there are only a few folks in the league day in day out that put up consistent numbers and a high shooting percentage. for instance, ray allen. philly should give him another chance though. ya'll been hanging on to chris webber for WAY too long now it sounds like this will be his last year or even shorter?

Chris Webber is only starting his 3rd season here! Last season ended on a rough note after Webber and Iverson walked off the sidelines during fan appreciation night, well before the game was over...Everyone erased Iverson off the roster, and Web was doughtful, at least in spirit, but they all bounced back, albeit to a sub .500 team. :?
