Hdd bracket for X60 2.5" Sata drive

Hi!

I have two hdd for my X60.
One is the factory 80GB Sata and one 100GB Sata.
(one is for the XP, one is for testing Vista)

Can you tell me the part number/FRU# of the bracket and the rubber blocks that contain the 2.5" Sata HDD in X60.

I checked the Hardware Maintenance Manual but it seems they sell the HDD in this bracket. I dont want to buy hdd, I only need the bracket and the mounting rubber blocks.

Can somebody help me?

I have a similar question. I figured I only needed the rubber rails as listed on the parts site, but when I opened my new x60s, the rubber rails seemed to be 2 pieces of rubber which act as shock absorbers. the drive bracket is distinct and attached to the hard drive.

Basically, I want to be able to easily swap SATA drives in and out of my system (OSX86 and XP, in my case). If I have to remove the bracket each time, that slows the process way down. Can anybody say with authority that the FRU 41V9756 contains both the rubber pieces and the bracket? If not, how do you get a bracket too? Surely not everyone who experiments with a different OS is doing dual or triple boot... or are you?

I made a dual boot system with Acronis OS Selector.
Now I have a Graphical screen to select the OS.

Is the speedstep working well?
I had to set in the bios to use the lowest speed on battery, because the OS X used it on full speed (in spite of I havent found any process consume the system power).

Actually, I haven't installed OSX yet, but when I do, I want to be able to switch easily with lots of HDD space for each OS.

I have 100GB/7200RPM HDD in my X60s. It is enough.
I gave 20gb to OS X, 40gb to Xp, and the rest 40gb reachable from the both OS.

I've got a lot of media files - my 120 gig XP drive is basically full. I suppose I could put that stuff on a partition which both could access, but I've already ordered the 2nd drive from NewEgg, so I'm committed. Glad the dual boot is working for you.

If nobody here has specific knowledge of the rubber drive rails, who at lenovo should I call to find out (tech support or sales)?

I've got an update on this topic. I called Tech Support at Lenovo/IBM, and it was a pretty miserable experience the first time. The first guy I talked to (in Atlanta) simply would not believe me that the drive I was holding in my hand was a 2.5" drive. He insisted that it was a 1.8" drive despite my assertions to the contrary.

I called the hardware/parts number next, and talked to someone which actually had a clue. He determined that the metal bracket is sold as part of the hard drive assembly and is not available separately. The cheapest hard drive is $140, and I wasn't willing to spend that much for a bracket. He even tried to go back to an older mode (600 series) and the bracket was much different and wouldn't work.

I am surprised and disappointed that IBM/Lenovo doesn't break out this part, but at least I have an answer. Maybe I can buy an x60 that someone has run over with a golf cart for parts, and extract the bracket that way.

You can buy rubber rails, but you cannot buy drive cage.
Drive cage sold with the drives only
