Hanging after cold boot

#1 Post by eTools » Mon Nov 20, 2006 2:52 am

My T43 is hanging at the "Loading personal settings..." window for about 20 seconds only after a cold boot. I don't have a very extensive knowledge about the startup process, so I don't really know what's happening.

What could be causing this slow down in this specific situation?

Have you checked the msconfig startup list? You might want to run BootVis on it and test it in Safe Mode to see if it is a service trying to load up or some driver waiting for something. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I'll go through the startup list. I remember using a site that contained a database of Startup items. It showed what each was used for and gave other information... Does anyone know where to find it?

If that doesn't solve it ill try running BootVis. Thanks chris :-)

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the website. Startup seems better now. Thanks again.
