Suggestions on contact manager software

I bought ACT and I sure didn't like it! Way overboard as far as complexity, invasiveness (I uninstalled it, then used Registry First Aid, and it found 600 (!!!) things to fix), lack of user friendliness, etc, etc. (ACT has a 60-day return policy, so I'm not stuck with keeping it.)

I just need something basic... to keep track of people's contact info, when they were contacted, what was talked about, when they should be contacted again. That's about it. No need for SQL databases, integration with Outlook, etc etc. Just for a single user, my wife.

Update, 2 weeks later...

I decided to write my own application in Lotus Approach. It's done, it works, I'm happy.
