T30 Floppy>Hard Drive?

#1 Post by ronbo613 » Mon Nov 20, 2006 12:21 pm

I have a floppy disc drive that fits into the accessory drive bay of my T30. Can I take the floppy drive out and use the bay mounting gear on a hard drive?
Love to have a removable hard drive.

You need an ultrabay plus or ultrabay 2000 2nd HD adapter.

check out ebay for ultra bay 2000 and you are sure to find a mounting bracket for the hard drive.

I have read that the bay is just like a USB port. I would like to get a harddrive mounting bracket for my bat and then mod 2 usb ports in it :)

That will be a later project.

I have a extra bay battery coming to my now .

Thanks for the info. Might have to go with the almighty floppy and a USB hard drive enclosure.

The Ultrabay 2000 Second Hard Drive adapter is simply a metal tray which accepts a standard laptop hard drive. It does NOT have any USB ports in which to plug anything into. It is an easy way of attaching a second hard drive to the system. If you only have a USB 1.1 port, it's also the FASTEST method of data access/transfer. The part number (FRU) is 08K6067 (sometimes also 08K6066). If you search eBay with that number, you should find a couple.

I'm not a super big eBay fan, but I'll have a look. The onboard USB 1.1 would be good enough for backups and storage. I've got tons of 3.5" hard drives laying around, what's one more external drive on the pile?
