T40 RECOVERY CD ON A T42 LAPTOP

Does this work? Can you use a t40 recovery cd on a t42 laptop?

Theorethically Yes, you could. There maybe some variation on the drivers included in the CD's, you just need to download them off Lenovo's site

I think they have different HPA's, which may cause a problem.

I don't think so. Recovery disks tend to be backward compatible because the hardware requirements are known. However, as the T42 was not made whem the T40 recovery disks were made, they likely won't have drivers for the new hardware. So I don't see how they can be forward compatible.

This will likely cause too many errors during the automated re-imaging process.
