hi,
i installed vista rc2 on my t42p one week ago, and i think it runs great, and would definately like to upgrade from xp.... but i noticed that it makes strange sounds, especially when scrolling in IE or when i move windows around - in fact everytime sth. moves on the display i can hear a special "clicking" sound, coming from where the gpu is. about under the "v" key. windows xp doesnt make this sound, i think it sometimes did, but not so extreme. here it is really anoying me so much, that i wont upgrade until i have found a way to fix this - if there is any way to do this. i also had vista rc1 installed, and this version didn't cause this sound...
any ideas how to get rid of this? is it the driver for the graphics, or power management?
regards,
Mads
Vista on my t42p
It's mostly because of the power management driver from lenovo. Like stated in the TP wiki i had this sound come and go with different bios releases and updates with the pm-device.
It's annoying but the only way to go around it is to find one bios version and pm-driver release where it actually doesn't get in your way and stick with that.
