How can I tell if I have a wireless antenna?

#1 Post by foggymtn » Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:01 pm

Hey Ya'll

I bought and R32 2659-BPU. I currentl;y have a netgear pcmcia wireless card in it. How can I tell if it will take an internal mini-pci card? Or if it has an antenna built in? Before some says "Look for an antenna", what would an antenna look like ? :)

I tried searching, but unfortunately I must be slower than the average joe, cuz' I didn't find this topic! LOL

Thanks, and happy turkey day

rob

Open your mini-pci slot and see if you have a black and a white wire hanging around in there, they may be taped to the slot cover.

If you have these wires, they lead to the antennas.

If you wanted, you could buy some antennas and install them yourself, which would allow you to install a Mini-PCI card. Otherwise, you're stuck with the PCMCIA wireless card.

The antennas are usually installed inside the LCD assembly and the wires are routed down through with the LCD connection, and then to the Mini-PCI slot.
