system clock stops in standby

#1 Post by kuifje_t41 » Thu Nov 23, 2006 4:24 pm

Hi there, is there anyone that can help me with the following problem?

Sometimes, not always, the system clock stops while my T41 is on standby.

To be more precise, I have configured the laptop to go on standby when I close the lid, and then when I open it, the time in windows indicates the time when I closed it.

I cannot see any pattern when this happens and when it doesn't.

I have the latest BIOS, and aleady replaced the battery.

What could it be?

Thanks

Kuifje

Did you replace the bios battery? (it's a tiny watch-sized battery that allows the bios to keep time when the machine is powered off).

A quick way to determine if it's going bad is to reboot your T41, enter the bios, and see what time the internal clock displays. Then suspend your machine for 10-15 minutes, and re-enter the bios and see if the clock is still up-to-date.
