IBM ThinkPad R60e A73 with x64

Don't you need a 64bit OS to take advantage of the Core2Duo. Mind telling me why they are ship with 32-bit XP pro ?

I installed WinXP x64 edition (dual boot) and I need the right drivers (like sound and graphics) and Thinkpad software. I can't find them on IBM's site, only relevant info for x64 are for Desktops and Servers.

In order to fully maximize the ability of core 2 duo you gonna need santa rosa chipset launch in 2007. At present the processor is 64 bit but the motherboard and whole platform is still 32 bit.

Not exactly. The current chipset fully supports running 64-bit operating systems (as the OP found out); it is only limited to 4 GB of physical memory (of which 3 GB appears to be accessible on the ThinkPads).
