Don't you need a 64bit OS to take advantage of the Core2Duo. Mind telling me why they are ship with 32-bit XP pro ?
I installed WinXP x64 edition (dual boot) and I need the right drivers (like sound and graphics) and Thinkpad software. I can't find them on IBM's site, only relevant info for x64 are for Desktops and Servers.
Thanks a lot.
IBM ThinkPad R60e A73 with x64
Not exactly. The current chipset fully supports running 64-bit operating systems (as the OP found out); it is only limited to 4 GB of physical memory (of which 3 GB appears to be accessible on the ThinkPads).sapibobo wrote:In order to fully maximize the ability of core 2 duo you gonna need santa rosa chipset launch in 2007. At present the processor is 64 bit but the motherboard and whole platform is still 32 bit.
