I didn't, it seemed nothing was a "great deal", like it was a few years ago.

Dell Outlet Business emailed me a 30% coupon code, with which I bought an Optiplex 9010 small-form-factor desktop computer for just over $400 shipped. Did you buy anything today?

I have a coupon code for all my friend here for the website: GoodEarthSpa (natural and organic homemade soaps mostly)

http://goodearthspa.com/

Code: BLACKFRIDAY

50% off your order

I'll also send a free sample of "The Evergreen State" soap to anyone who orders something from me. It's an all natural soap made from distilled fir needles from the pacific northwest. Unlike most commercial products that simply buy the essential oils that are produced in chemical factories, these are distilled directly from freshly picked needles, cleaned, and with no dangerous chemicals used, and the pulp from the needles is used as an exfolient, very gentle one too.

You can watch the products being made on their youtube channel

http://www.youtube.com/user/EdentiaFarms

Making all natural distilled essential oils from fir needles...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2eK14jT ... 0RqF8iU8NA

The owner freely shares the recipes of all products and teaches how to make them.

ps. I'd love to hear what anyone things about these products.

Bought an intel 330 180GB ssd to replace my OCZ Vertex. Not much more space, but it was cheap and intel is one of the better brands so I figured what the hell.

Also, I just bought an android tablet for 10 quid / ~15USD. Capacitive, allwinner a13 @ 1.2ghz, 512mb ram and ICS... It was suspiciously cheap but the seller had 40k sold and 99.4% positive.

Totally agree about Intel. I haven't tried the 330 series yet, the 320 is great, but a good bit more money, so I think I'll wait and see how the 330 makes it.

In this case you can learn a lot by looking at the negatives and neutral comments, they often say alot.

They had some issues back in the day with the first sandforce controllers, but they really stepped up lately. I'll check back with some benchmarks. But keep in mind that I'll only get SATA2 speeds.

True. I mean, his/her feedback hasn't blown my mind or anything, but its decent enough. If I get it, I have a tablet to screw up while learning android development, if not, it wasn't an all that horrible sum to lose, I suppose.

Lol, he just realized he screwed up. He sent me an email apologized that the "item" had "goted out of stock" and asked if I wanted a refund. After which he'd inform me when its back in stock (and I'd be forced to buy it again for 72USD). Smart one. I replied by saying I had no problem with waiting until it got back in stock... :D Strangely, he has another listing with identical tablets and that one is currently in stock.

Bloke just wanted to get out of selling it for 10 quid lol.

JCrew Factory.com and JCrew.com for myself, daughter, son in law, grand kids
ToysRUS.com for grandkids
Coach.com for wife
Dentist.net for me
Neiman-Marcus.com for myself, old friend, daughter

I need a TV... one in exercise room kinda died. Would love to get it on line, but not sure I trust the delivery guys this time of year w something that fragile.
Shirts, etc are one thing, but a TV... ahhhh..just not sure I want to chance that.

If you buy a new TV, it comes with its original packaging, which is much sturdier than a refurbed one in a brown box.
As long as you can use a 17"-24" in your gym, shipping should be no problem.
Recently got a Samsung 19" LED-TV from Newegg, that was shipped via USPS.
Arrived in perfect condition, not even a dent in the box.
Anything larger, I'd want to pick it up.

As for Black Friday, there just wasn't anything interesting that said "buy me", so I didn't!

I bought a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H-D3 off Newegg for $115. It turned into about $127 after shipping and taxes, which is still an amazing deal for that board. SLI and CrossFire, PCI-E 16x, 3D BIOS, Ivy Bridge support, Z77 chipset, etc.

I bought the same exact board at the full price a few months ago for a build that I now use to record my games, it's an amazing board. I've got a i5-3470 plugged into it, and a Radeon 6870 for the dirty work. It's an amazing computer.

I bought the second Z77X because I happen to have a LGA1155 Pentium D(I use it to flash the BIOS for my friend's boards, to add support for Ivy Bridge) just sitting. And I need a board to have another computer, so I can earn some points under my name for Folding@Home. My friend just got a i7-2500k, and i'm not letting him get away from me on points.
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

Good thought. Actually that has helped me out in the past. Latest was a video camera that went in month 14 of a 12 month standard warrenty.
Guy at local store kept trying to sell me a new one. I pulled out my AMEX Gold receipt and they fixed it for free. Still running too.

I had an Amex card but canceled it long ago. Does Amex give cashback like Visa and Discover?

This year I bought a lot more things on the days before and after Black Friday. Lots and lots of amazing deals this year.

no, i don't think so only double the warranty..
and amex does NOT run a tab so you wind up paying exoribant interest..
don't want to wind up like the feds owing more than can ever be paid off..

which is why i never use visa or MC.. never ever..

I know it's an old argument, but if you pay it off on time...

Anyhoo, opt-in promotions are annoying, but I was glad that Chase ran one for Best Buy over the holiday/Black Friday. It was nice a get a bit more back.

RadioShack.com lost me as a customer, though. They played fast and loose with stock and card authorizations. I might stop by a store for some diode, but I won't touch their site again.

not to hijack this interesting thread but paying up to 24% or more in interest to USE the $$ when the credit card issuer is paying 1% more or less to rent that same $$ to the card holder is just plain bad business for the credit card holder..

i'll take those terms as a lender any day when and correct me if i am wrong, the credit card debt can not even be discharged in bankruptcy..

just plain bad business..
i know some of the readers might ask what a conservative guy is doing eschewing such things but it is just because i AM conservative and my BS detector goes off whenever i get one of those offers in the mail that i decline to pay usurious interest rates..

Having or using the card doesn't necessitate incurring interest, though. Cards put self-control to the test, it's true, but there's plenty of upside to them if you have it.

but how many have such self control..?
for those who can control access to "easy money" credit can be a boon.. used wisely it is an excellent tool..

so lets get back to the original thread here..

for myself i did not buy on black friday..
i will do as usual, frantically scan amazon for something for my christmas list shipped fast and free with amazon prime on or about dec. 20.. best $70 a year i ever spent.. :)

This Optiplex 9010 arrived today. This was the first time I had ordered from the Dell Outlet and am certain I will order from it again in the future. Though listed as "Certified Refurbished", it looks brand new and even smells new, although this is a recently introduced model and so refurbished units of older models may not look as new. Anyway, a similarly configured Optiplex 9010 would have a list price of just over $1K on Dell's regular site, so $407 including tax was a super bargain. It comes with 3 years of limited warranty as well, just like all of Dell Business' premium desktops and laptops. I chose the Optilpex 9010 mainly because it has two DisplayPort outputs plus one VGA output built in, so it can drive 3 monitors natively.

I do! I never pay interests for my credit cards. Instead, my credit card companies give me a couple hundred dollars in cashback annually.

BUT, this is the "off topic" forum and so we are supposed to talk about non-Thinkpads. Also, this was my best-ever Black Friday purchase and I simply couldn't refrain from raving about it!

I don't think I tout Dell too often here. I am as uninterested in Dell's current laptops as I am in Lenovo's. And most of the time I mention Dell (usually about their monitors), I do so on this off-topic forum.

I have no idea where the Olympic Peninsula is, or even what it it is ... but a forest (or woodland) is always more rewarding than so called retail therapy as far as I am concerned. :thumbs-UP:

I quite agree. And to answer the question, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_Peninsula is the place in question--about a 40-minute ferry ride west of Seattle, Washington. There are gorgeous temperate rainforests, but also miles and miles of beaches, as well as the Olympic mountain range. It's stunningly beautiful.
