Issues with Access Connection and Borland Developer Studio.

#1 Post by Melvyn » Mon Nov 27, 2006 12:32 am

Hello,

First of all: I'm on road and my BDS DVD isn't with me. I'm in trouble at least until friday.

Well, step by step. ThinkPad formatted and installed. Access Connections and all drives, then my usual stuff: office apps, dreamweaver, borland developer studio and more. Everything got ok.

Some weeks ago, I noticed a malfunction in AC: they were taking almos 100% of cpu usage, so I uninstalled AC and managed wireless with the windows stuff.

Last friday, on road, I checked Software update and downloaded the "new" version 4.21 (or something so) and it was the worse: 100% cpu and thinkpad getting freezed.

Anyways, the worse nightmare was with Borland Developer Studio 2006. When I open it this message appear:
"Fatal error validating licence for Borland Developer Studio 2006. The licence manager reported the following error: Licensing storage for C:\Documents and Settings\Melvyn\.borland\borland.lic cannot be written. (7008)."
That with an OK button. When pressing OK the following: "You are not licenced to use Borland Developer Studio 2006".

Well, when going to the C:\Documents and Settings\Melvyn\.borland\ directory I can see that borland.lic and borland.loc filles that appear to be an Access Connection file. So I'm (almost sure) that this stuff is caused by AC.

I unistalled AC and problem still appear.

This is a traveling week. I must go back to my home-office to bring my BDS DVD or is there something?

Append:
Reading at Borland's forum says this:
This is caused by an antivirus holding an exclusive lock to the files used to maintain the product's license information.

Disabling the antivirus, or preventing the antivirus from scanning the Documents and Settings\.borland directory would resolve this issue.

The matter isn't antivirus, is Access Connection yet. How can I disable the lock?
