t43p + Minidock = fan always on?

#1 Post by lentoPastel » Mon Nov 27, 2006 9:25 am

The fan in my t43p works well when not in the minidock, that is almost silent or off (I think) when idle and a little lowder when busy. But when it is in the minidock it never stops... it is very disturbing to me. Is that behavior normal with the minidock?

Do you have an external monitor connected? If so, it is because PowerPlay is disabled when an external monitor is connected (and maybe even when docked). Thus, the graphics processor is producing more heat and the fan runs faster/constantly.

I've noticed similar behavior with my T43/Minidock/Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD.
