T43p Slow boot issue

#1 Post by richardh » Mon Nov 27, 2006 10:58 am

My daughter's T43P hangs at the IBM screen (before boot) for about two minutes and then starts the window's XP boot process The machine had the motherboard replaced by Lenovo about three months ago. All of the Windows and Lenovo software pacthes are installed and current. Machine type is a 2668-P1U with two gig of RAM and it set to boot from the HD. It is also set for short POST test in the BIOS.

Thank you

Richard

Try setting it to quick boot in bios.

You could have a hard drive that is on it's way out. Try running some hard drive diagnostic tools. You can also check in: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Look for any SMART or ATA/ATAPI errors.

Hitachi Drive Fitness Test

Fujitsu Diagnostic Tool
