mounting .nrg and .iso files as virtual cd/dvd drive ?

#1 Post by awallin » Mon Nov 27, 2006 1:44 pm

Hi, can anyone recommend software for mounting .iso, .bin, .nrg and so on files as a virtual cd/dvd drive on a t60 ?

I've had some pretty bad experiences the last couple of times I tried, so I'd appreciate if anyone could recommend software that works without problems on the t60.

thanks,

Microsoft has a functional but basic tool for mounting ISO volumes here:
Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP.

You can try using Daemon Tools. I've used them for a long time and it is pretty good.

Alcohol 120% is also an option. Pretty much the same functionality as daemon tools though.

I've had good luck with a little tool in Nero 6 called Nero Image Drive. I can't vouch for Nero 7, but, Nero 6 works fine for me. Image Drive allows you to mount and keep mounted two iso images as virtual CD drives. If you do it right they should stay mounted even when you reboot, whether cold or hot. The online instructions aren't all that clear. If you need some help with it I'll send you the steps I have learned to follow.
Good luck,

Elby's CloneDrive is a free and easy utility for mounting ISOs.

If I am not mistaken, Alcohol 120% has been known to cause problems with Hibernation.

no, it is the contrary ... 120% Alcohol helps hibernation... but daemon tools will certainly to the trick ... never had a problem ... and the new versions uses even less resources ...

Well, I don't know. I have never used Alcohol 120% myself. I was basing my information on the following thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=13396
