BIOS update 2.03?
BIOS update 2.03?
Has anyone installed this, dated 11/20? I don't install every BIOS update because I'm always afraid something that used to work will stop. But it's been a while, so I'm thinking maybe I should install this one. Opinions?

I installed it. Helped my battery run time. It says it adds support for the 2007 model # computers...which makes sense since those shipped with 2.00g, which isn't even listed in the bios chart and I'm guessing was simply a stop-gap BIOS. I don't know if non-2007 model laptops will see the same battery benefits.

Bios 2.3
Actually not accurate to say that the 2007 models shipped with 2.00 bios, since i have a t60p that is a 2007 and it did NOT ship with 2.00. Cant remember which one it shipped with since i have upgraded the bios 2 times already, but just thought i would make that correction.

Do I have to go to Lenovo's website to download this new Bios? Why doesn't it automatically dl within the ThinkVantage update stuff? I just received my T60 3 weeks ago, do I still need to upgrade? Please advise. Thanks!

No, it doesn't download with the thinkvantage update. My guess is because it's more involved than the average update (you have to take it out of any dock it might be attached to, you have to disable the BIOS password, your BIOS settings will be reset to defaults).
I'm guessing you are running 2.00g since mine was and we both got ours around the same time. To check, during the start of startup (when it says press the blue thinkvantage button to interrupt) press either F1 or F2...I forget which, just press both of them one after the other really quickly a couple of times. That will take you into the BIOS and you can see what BIOS revision you have.

Anyone know if this version is compatible with the Core 2 Duo chip.
I have a 2007 series with Core Duo. I don't remember version numbers but the original BIOS did not support Core 2 Duo. Then IBM released a BIOS update available on their site that I upgraded to which did support Core 2 Duo. Then they pulled that version.
I feel happy that I have a BIOS that supports Core 2 Duo and don't want to lose that functionality if I upgrade to 2.03.
I'm assuming based on the signatures that it will support C2D but just wanted to double check...

Hmm, it did get downloaded and re-flashed by the update software on mine... strange.marlinspike wrote:No, it doesn't download with the thinkvantage update. You are correct...I looked and it is 2.00. Sorry to sound so stupid, but how do I get the instructions to download and install it? Also, do you really think it was worth downloading at this point? Mine seems to be working fine??? Thanks, Corymarlinspike wrote:No, it doesn't download with the thinkvantage update. Well, I noticed a small boost in battery life when I did the bios update. Go to the lenovo website, click the support & downloads link, click auto-detect this system, then click downloads and drivers. The BIOS update and instructions are there.corymcnutt wrote:You are correct...I looked and it is 2.00. Sorry to sound so stupid, but how do I get the instructions to download and install it? If you look farther down the page where you download the bios update, you will see where it tells you (and gives you a link) telling you that you must have that utility installed first. Good Luck, CoryOnnoK123 wrote:I cant update the bios.. It asks me to install the Thinkpad Configuration before using this utility. ???
