Can I replace an SXGA+ screen with old UXGA screen on T60?

#1 Post by WPWoodJr » Tue Nov 28, 2006 7:14 pm

I have a T42p with UXGA screen. If I bought a T60p with SXGA+, is it possible for me to remove the UXGA screen from my T42p and put it on the new T60p? I would imagine that the interconnects are standardized and that the video card would be able to detect the new screen size?

Ive never done a resolution swap, but I believe you will need more than the screen. I am pretty sure the T4x's used a different cable for different resolutions, and maybe the inverter too.

i think the power inverter would be the main obstacle- definitely check specs if you can.

Power inverters were all the same in the T4x. Did the swap several times. All you needed was the SXGA cable.

Can't say for sure about the T60. Haven't cracked one of those open yet.

Small circuit board that (usually) sits below the LCD. It "inverts" the power supply to the LCD to power the backlight.
