Anyone has an opinion on the merits of T60 WS Core 2 Duo vs Z60m Pentium M?

Depends on what you want. If you still want more of the media connectivity features, you might as well stick with the Z60m (although the T60 is technically a bump up in performance and the Z61 models would be a better comparison). Also, I think the T60 widescreens are thinner than the Z60m, last I checked the specs on the dimensions. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

From the latest review over at Notebook Reviews, the T60 WS with 2.0GHz Core2Duo had very good performance against a T60 2.0GHz Pentium M, which is the same chip I have in the Z60m, so performance would be a big reason.

Secondly, having been used to T-series at work for a long time, I've always felt the Z-series didn't seem to be as sleek and solid, so this perceived quality is another reason. Don't know why this is so, although I read the Z-series is the 1st Lenovo driven product.

Thirdly, weight reduction, albeit somewhat slight, is another reason.

Lastly, despite the moniker of -m, I'm not sure what media related or connectivity related strengths the Z-series has other than the widescreen, which was the main reason I chose it more than a year ago.

Z61p series: Firewire, S-Video, SD Card Reader, .1" thicker, .2 lbs heaver, plus the only 1920x1200 WUXGA lcd panel available in a thinkpad..

As far as I know, Lenovo has been making all thinkpads for quite some time.

I would have gone with the wide T60p if it had an IPS panel..
