The first one might work.

The second is two 512MB sticks.

Be careful about buying a stick from one place and a different stick from another, memory of the same type can still have different timings, which would cause the computer to not run in dual channel mode. Ideally, find someplace where you can buy two sticks of the same memory.

To get X60s run in dual channel mode, do I need to buy a pair of ram from exactly the same manufacture? How do you know it is runing in dual channel mode? Thanks,

You don't have to buy from the same manufacturer...it just makes it easier to know for sure it will work. I think the sticks just need to be the same size and have the same timings.

I think if you download CPU-Z, it can tell you if the memory is running in dual-channel mode.

CPUZ

I can;t get CPUZ to work properly on my X60. On load it complains about an error loading the driver and the memory/motherboard and SPD sections are all blank. This is version 1.38
