The T43 SATA/PATA Issue

#1 Post by eDog1014 » Thu Nov 30, 2006 2:04 pm

I know this is not an entirely new topic, but I have yet to find a definitive answer, so I'll ask it flat out.

Has any one found a way, or even tried, to bypass or remove the PATA->SATA bridge in the T43 so as to install a native SATA drive?

Thanks so much,

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forum :)

No, to my knowledge, nobody has found a plausible way to do so, much less an approach to doing it on actual hardware. I haven't intimately seen the bridge directly, but I do think that it is secured in such a way as to be very difficult to remove, even with complete disassembly; it may or may not be like an IDE "extender" in shape as I haven't seen any evident physical differences when it comes to the T43 HDD bay versus another T4X Series Thinkpad.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
