T30 and 2631 Dock, Needs pci to pci bridge drivers???

#1 Post by cngr96 » Thu Nov 30, 2006 5:06 pm

New to group and by reading the forums looks like some pretty knowledgeable people live here. Anyway, I am running a T30 and just acquired a 2631 docking unit for it. WinXP wants PCI to PCI bridge drivers installed and PCI to CardBus bridge, and IDE channel drivers. Also, my USB ports do not work so I can assume all this is related?? I have search all over for these drivers and have not been able to find them. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks

Just updating my own finding, or lack of. I loaded the current BIOS release and my T30 would not boot up XP. The error was the BIOS file in \windows\inf\biosinfo.inf was corrupted. I did a repair of my XP instrall and now all the docking features are working. Obviliosly I had some driver loaded that was blocking other drivers from installing.

I tried a gforce PCI in my docking and my T30 would not boot, just displayed the PCI number of the card on the screen. Not sure what that means yet, but will research it later next week. My T30 has 1gb of RAM (512x2), runs great.

I just migrated to a T30 from a T23 and beginning to really like it a lot. I also have the 2631 dock that I have yet to use with this machine although I used it quite a lot with the previous Ts (T20, T21, T22, T23). I don't have any interest in putting a video card in it since I'm not a gamer, but there seams to be a few spots out there that have a list of what cards are "known working" for the dock. I believe the thinkwiki is on, so I'd start there. As for me, I'll use the PCI for an inexpensive USB 2.0 card that will allow me to transfer data quite a bit quicker! :D
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(

sorry about card it seems that when a vid card is in the dock it will disable laptop display, so you plug into pci output with external monitor.
hope that helps
