Z61P 64Bit Support?

#1 Post by RiverFly » Fri Dec 01, 2006 6:26 am

I know that the Core 2 Duo has 64 support but does the Z61P have 64 bit support?

What do you mean?

If the Z61p comes with Core 2 Duo it should imply that the Z61p has 64 bit support.

I found the anwser. The Chip set does not support 64bit apps. I was told it would be on the next gen of ThinkPad sometime in April 2007.

It does support 64-bit apps. The limitation with the Napa chipset is merely that it will not support more than 4 GB of memory (and probably not more than 3 GB on any ThinkPad).

Search these forums, and you will find a number of people running 64-bit OSs on Core 2 Duo ThinkPads.

Core 2 Duo's in thinkpads definitely support 64 bit programs.
