Dead Pixel Exchange?
Dead Pixel Exchange?
I got my T60 yesterday, and it has a dead pixel. Ran the 'undead pixel' program... but no luck.
Will lenovo exchange the computer for 1 dead pixel? what is there return policy (i might hold off on a computer till january)?
thanks

For a new Product that is unopened and still in it's sealed package, you may return it to Lenovo for any reason within 21 days of the date of invoice and obtain a refund or credit.
You must return the new Product, including all documentation and accessories, intact and in its unopened original packaging, to a Lenovo designated location by the date Lenovo specifies.
Products returned may be subject to a restocking fee equal to 15% of the price paid. You agree to pay the restocking fee as Lenovo specifies. Products purchased through the Lenovo Employee Purchase Program are not eligible for return.

Please try this:Evo22 wrote:its a green pixel.
but i've been running the 'undead pixel' program for a while and no luck.
with a damp cloth press using your fingernail against the stuck pixel on your LCD. Keep the pressure for about 15-20 secs. The pixel should be gone.
If that does not help, turn off your laptop. do the same procedure as above and then while pressing the LCD turn on your laptop, keep the pressure for another 15-20 seconds. Voila pixel!

It won't be fixed for just one dead pixel per the IBM/Lenovo implementation of the ISO 13406-2 Standard.
Unless it meets or exceeds the pixel limits in that matrix, Lenovo will be very reluctant to exchange it for just one dead pixel.
You might be able to convince them to give you a little break, however, if you are able to talk to one of the reps about it.

Lenovo recently changed the 30 day return policy to 21 days and has made it much more restrictive. I think they don't want you to open the box and that there is a 15% restocking fee, but you should read the fine print. There was some reference to it on David Churbuck's blog as I recall.

I doubt it. I've never heard of anyone talking a rep into taking a return on the basis of 1 bad pixel. The sad fact of the matter is that it is no longer worth buying any ThinkPad direct from Lenovo. The buyer ends up waiting for the machine to be built, and has a satisfaction policy that is little (if at all) better than what a third party reseller would give.christopher_wolf wrote:You might be able to convince them to give you a little break, however, if you are able to talk to one of the reps about it.
Having been burnt by dead pixels before, I won't be buying a ThinkPad from Lenovo anytime soon.

Right now, I am really not satisfy with Lenovo order process taking me more than 2 weeks, and I am still waitting it. Also, I am not satisfy with Lenovo return policy, If I dont open box , how do I know if my laptop is good ? 15% restocking fee is recidous in the U.S.K. Eng wrote:I doubt it. This is not nice.

Maybe you should cancel the order and pick up a laptop from local stores. I am more or less disappointed with my purchase too.
But I know, the price of T60 now is too attractive to resist.....

Local store only knows how to take out more money from you.

This is what runs great businessess down the drain !
IBM / Lenovo has gotten too high and might, however, they won't last long treating customers like they are as of late.
I have a new T-60 and it's not bad, however, I can see the quality has gone down and so has the service.
The next time around, I will move on to another Notebook manufactuer as there is no shortage.
Lenovo, wake up or loose your customer base !
Just my 2 cents
