X41T stuck in Tablet Mode

#1 Post by smaddock » Sun Dec 03, 2006 7:59 pm

My relatively newly purchased X41T has been great - but 2 weeks ago the keyboard, trackpoint, Access IBM, Volume and POWER buttons stopped working.

It works fine in Tablet Mode but appears unable to convert back to Laptop Mode. It doesn't appear to pick up that there has been a switch - the screen orientation doesn't change and nothing which would be hidden by the screen in tablet mode will work.

USB keyboard etc are fine. Naturally I can't access the BIOS congig because the Access IBM button won't work.

All drivers are up to date so far as Lenovo's site and Microsoft's site are concerned.

Does anyone know where the switch is that controls the mode change?

I suggest you try launching your Access IBM via your programs menu. Start/All Programs/Access IBM, or it might be under ThinkVantage. Once you launch that, you should make sure you're up to date on:

ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver
ThinkPad Tablet Shortcut Menu
and there's another one that I can't remember the name of -- but it enables the Fn+F# keys.
x31 (2672-BBU)
x60s (1704-4DU)
T43 (2668-NU3)

Still stuck in Tablet Mode

As I mentioned all drivers are up to date.

Are there any instances of the more recent drivers clashing and causing the machine to fail to recognise the conversion from Tablet to Laptop?

Anyone know?
