I've been reading about Vista a lot recently and considering just the upgrades to features I know I will be getting Vista at one point. I want my relatively new T43 to last me at least until I get through hmy first 5 years of university.
It got this laptop at the beginning of last summer and though I didn't enough research to find that a ThinkPad was enough for me, I didn't realize that the requirements for Vista were so high. I just have a few quick questions about hardware with Vista.
I've done my research but I cannot get a definitive answer on the graphics card issue. I've seen testimonials that say Areo runs "flawlessly" with a 32mb card while larger websites claim that the user will notice a significant difference after upgrading a 256mb to one of high capacity.
3 Main Questions:
- How will my ATI x300 64mb card limit the aero engine?
- Will the Pentium M processor be sufficient for Vista?
- Windows XP works flawlessly. Based on my system, will I be making a major sacrifice by moving to Vista?
A testimonial from another T4x user would be perfect.
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Vista and T43 are doing fine together
I have been running Vista for the past two months on my T43 with great success and pleasure. While some of the ThinkPad's special applications have not yet been modified for Vista, the T43 is running just fine with the built-in features of Vista.
Aero is fine at 1024x768 with ATI X300 (64 mb). Vista is more stable than XP Pro and I do not find its demands on the battery any greater than XP.
The best thing you can do for your T43 is to lavish it with as much memory as you can afford. One GB is great if you can fit it in.
