memory install tutorial
Hi, I will be receiving 1gb more memory for my T60 in a few days, could someone point me to some installation instructions ? thanks.
the webshop recommends this product for my machine (T60-FUG):
Lenovo 1GB PC2-5300 CL5 SDRAM
I hope it's the right kind !

There are instructions in your thinkpad manual. I can scan those for you..

Do a search at www.lenovo.com using the keywords T60 & Movies. This will give you all the installation movies available which includes memory installation, palmrest installation/removal, etc.

thanks for the answers above,
I see the shop has two products that are suitable:
Kingston 1GB DDR2 SO-DIMM (Kingston code KTL-TP667/1G)
and
Lenovo 1GB PC2-5300 CL5 DDR2 SDRAM (Lenovo code 40Y7734)
the Lenovo branded memory is about 20eur more expensive, but is there really any difference between these two ?

best bet is to go with Corsair 1gb 667 mhz. It's available at BESTBUY in US or online. You can check the Value Select series online at corsair.com
I ordered mine, pop it in, works like a charm. Memtest for 3 days with no errors and been using it for about 3 weeks now.CPUZ shows my ram to be in dual channel mode

Download a program called CPU-Z. Go to the Memory tab and it will tell you. Pretty much as long as you have two sticks of RAM in there, it will be in dual channel.guYom wrote:How do you check to see if your RAM is in dual channel mode?
Thanks.
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...
