Z61m Shutdown problem

#1 Post by vnirmalkumar » Thu Dec 07, 2006 9:33 am

Hi,

I have Winxp prof in my Z61m thinkpad, along with all the thinkpad drivers. My problem is that, I can neither shut down my computer nor bring my computer to standby mode.

Windows shuts down and the screen is still on with a black display with mouse pointer still visible. The harddrive doesn't run anymore. I cannot move the mousepointer (using touchpad or ultranav, they doesn't work after that), but with an external USB mouse, I could still move the mouse pointer.

I could only shut down the laptop completely by pressing and holding the power switch for 5 seconds.

I have tried reinstalling WinXP prof and all ibm drivers. But, I still have the same problem. It happens even if wireless LAN and bluetooth are switched off.

Does anybody have any suggestion to it?

I found some IBM OS patches in the softwares folder. Since my thinkpad is a german version, I have all these patches in german language. My OS is now in english, I cannot install these patches due to difference in language.

Could anybody be kind enough to send me those patches by email or upload them to a server and give me the link? (for IBM Z61m)

Thanks in advance.
