R51: Active Protection icon won't stay away

#1 Post by RBob » Sat Sep 04, 2004 10:07 pm

I trust that the Active Proection feature is working and really don't need one more icon down there in the system tray.

Regardless if I right-click it and select "Remove Active Protection icon ...", or go to the Active Protection config in the Control Panel and un-check "Show Active Protection icon ...", it always comes back on the next boot.

Any way to keep the function turned on, but get rid of the icon?

I'm running XP Pro.

Usual questions:

1. What version are you running
2. Have you checked whether that is the most recent version

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-53150

Version 1.22 there says "Solve the problem that the APS task-tray icon appears even if the tray-icon option is set to disabled".

May fix your problem.

Dang. Looks like I have v 1.20b.

I assumed that since the "update advisor" (or whatever it's called) didn't offer me a new version, that I was up to date.

I guess I'm going to have to go through all the drivers and utilities and check the versions against what's available on IBM's Web site to see if I'm current.
